The relentless missile attacks on vital infrastructure in cities across Ukraine have left families devoid of electricity and essential services, painting a stark picture of the urgent need for our support.
Just days ago, on November 25, another Russian missile attack struck the southern city of Odesa, damaging residential buildings and injuring ten people. Overnight, drones targeted energy infrastructure in the south of Mykolaiv region, causing widespread power cuts, while in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, industrial facilities were also hit. These attacks further disrupt daily life, and with harsh winter weather settling in, the situation is becoming even more dire.
The relentless attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid have exacerbated the already daunting task of ensuring a steady power supply. The recent weather-related damage led to over 300 towns in eastern Ukraine losing electricity, and with the onset of the coldest months, the situation is expected to deteriorate further.
Despite the grim situation, there is a glimmer of hope, and you can play a pivotal role in it. CUF-UCC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal has been established jointly by the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) to formalize a coordinated approach in providing humanitarian assistance quickly and efficiently to those in need in Ukraine to address any further aggression by Russia. The main efforts of cooperation are to provide humanitarian relief in the areas of assistance to displaced persons, medical care, emergency shelter and food security.
